Q. What should I bring with my pet for Boarding?
A. When your pet comes to stay at our Resort we ask you to bring whatever will make them more comfortable. We always recommend bringing their own food as well as a blanket or towel for them. Treats, Chews, Toys and any other items are also allowed. We make sure that they are given their items in their kennel so that they feel right at home. (Please limit the number of toys to a few.)
Q. What do you do in case of an emergency?
A. In case of a medical emergency with your dog we will first contact you or your vet and if they are not available we will contact our on-call veterinarian. If all else fails we will take them to the emergency animal clinic. (Depending on the severity of the emergency some steps may be skipped.)
Q. When can I drop off and pick up my pet for boarding?
A. You can drop your pet off anytime that we are open the day of the boarding and pick up anytime that we are open on the day that they are leaving. WE DO NOT have specified drop off and pick up hours. We are open on Sunday for pickups from 5:30pm - 7:00pm at no additional charge! Q. What is Kennel Cough?
A. Kennel Cough is a upper respiratory virus that dogs may get when they come in contact with other dogs. Although Diggin' Inn Pet Resort does everything possible to keep from getting Kennel Cough there is no guarantee that it cannot happen. We require that all dogs be current on their bordatella vaccine every 6 months to help prevent infection but studies have shown that the vaccine is approximately 60 - 70% effective so infection is possible. Every Kennel and all dog areas are cleaned with a disinfectant to help reduce any possible contamination. If your dog shows any signs of an upper respiratory infection they will be taken to the vet for medical attention.
Q. What are "puppy warts"?
A. Puppy Warts are small warts that develop usually between the gums and the teeth in the mouth of the dog, but can form on their tongue as well. They are a virus similar to the human "chicken pocks". The incubation period before one will develop after being exposed is 1 to 2 months. Although we do our best to try and prevent spreading of the virus it is difficult. If your dog is diagnosed with this, commonly they go away after about 6 weeks without any intervention. It usually affects puppies, dogs with weakened immune systems and elderly dogs. Once they have the virus they commonly do not get it again. There is not a vaccine for this. We do expect to have clearance from your veterinarian before they can return to daycare. If you have any further questions please let us know.
Q. Are there refunds on daycare packages?
A. There are no refunds on unused portions of daycare packages.
Q. Are the daycare rooms attended by staff?
A. Our daycare rooms are attended by a staff member while daycare is in session. They are there to facilitate play, monitor the health of the animals, control behaviors and care for the animals while playing. The number of staff in attendance of each room will vary based on the number of animals in attendance.
Q. What happens if a fight breaks out between dogs?
A. Diggin' Inn Pet Resort does everything possible to prevent illness and injury to pets but anytime you have many dogs congregating together in one space the chance of injury and illness does increase. Although we try our best to test all animals in daycare there is always a possibility of fights between animals. Our staff is knowledgeable in the ways to break up the fights and will do so as quickly as possible. Any daycare that guarantees no fights in their facility should be looked at very carefully. As with children fights and illness are possible. The requirement of temperament tests does however lower the possibility of such an event occurring.
